Concept:The English version follows the Japanese text

It is said that the conscious mind—the part of our consciousness that we are aware of—accounts for only 3–10% of our overall consciousness. What would happen if we could manipulate or see the subconscious mind, of which we are normally unaware? Driven by this curiosity, she has continually explored the nature of consciousness. After studying the fundamentals of painting at art school, she felt that “painting” — deliberately controlling lines with the brain in order to create a good picture — was highly intentional. Around 1997, she therefore developed her Consciousness Drawings, in which she drew lines by tracing the movement of her visual awareness without looking at the paper, in an attempt to eliminate the intention of “drawing a picture” as much as possible.
This series is created using those lines. In addition, her works, which are based on brass and copper powders and incorporate pigments, brass leaf, copper leaf, and silver leaf, appear to change color depending on the viewing angle. Changing our perspective changes what we see. This fundamental principle of the world is also incorporated into the paintings as an element within the work. The green areas visible here and there in the underlying layers are verdigris, reflecting the constant transformation and passage of this world.
