DESCRIPTION OF WORK: She creates her works using lines from a drawing about “consciousness” that she created around 1998, combining brass and copper powder with sheets of brass, copper, and silver leaf. Although we believe that we are in control of ourselves, in our daily lives, we actually act unconsciously most of the time. It is said that the conscious mind, which we are able to perceive and recognize, accounts for only around 3–5% of our total consciousness. We are largely controlled by our subconscious mind. By expressing the subconscious through metal leaf, she creates a mysterious world that makes us question: Is this reality, a dream, or an illusion? The greenish-blue color seen in the background is created by verdigris, a blue-green patina formed when the copper components oxidize.

彼女は、1998年頃に制作した「意識」をテーマとするドローイングの線を用い、真鍮や銅の粉末と、真鍮・銅・銀の箔を組み合わせて作品を制作しています。

私たちは自分自身をコントロールしているつもりでいますが、日常生活において、実際にはその大半を無意識のうちに行動しています。私たちが知覚・認識できる「意識」は、全意識のわずか3〜5%程度に過ぎないと言われており、私たちは大部分において「無意識」に支配されているのです。

金属箔を用いて無意識の世界を表現することで、彼女は「これは現実なのか、夢なのか、それとも幻なのか」と見る者に問いかけるような、神秘的な世界観を創り出しています。

背景に見られる青緑色は、銅の成分が酸化することで生じる青緑色の錆（緑青）によるものです。
